About Aspire Internships
On April 1, 1999 Aspire Internships was the first internship arrangement company in Japan
to specialize only in overseas hotel training programs. Focusing only on the hotel industry
we have a track record of arranging beneficial programs for both the intern and host hotel.
If you are an ambitious person looking to start or improve your career in the hotel industry
then we confidently believe that Aspire Internships is the best for you.
Internships have a long and popular history, particularly in Europe and the USA.
In the hospitality industry in the western world, it is very difficult to get
employment without experience. Internships are the main system available
for young people to gain this work experience.
Recently these programs are becoming international due to global economic
and technological trends. Already many Japanese interns are training
in first class hotels overseas.
The Aspire System
Aspire does a personal interview with you to explain the program and match
your skills with the hotel needs. Whether you have many years of experience
or no experience, Aspire has an international hotel training program for you.
All of these programs are individually designed with your future career and
goals in mind. While in the hotel you will rotate in a variety of sections with
the hotel managers supervising your training program. By the end of your
challenging program you will have developed the language and hospitality skills
that you could have never learned in Japan.
If selected, Aspire will assist you with the following:
- Matching and program negotiation with the hotel
- Visa requirements
- Travel arrangements
- Host country housing (apartment or homestay)
- Insurance
Aspire will work with you closely to make sure each of the above items are properly
and safely arranged. We will keep in touch with you and your host hotel during
your internship to make sure you are properly taken care of. In many locations overseas,
Aspire has partner offices to assist you in any case of emergency.
Intern Qualifications
Aspire is entrusted by all of our hotel and resort clients to find the best people
for their teams from Japan. Our policies and interview system are to assure that
the hotels get high quality interns from Japan. Aspire is a very selective and
competitive program. Although we cannot accept everyone, it will cost you
nothing to apply and interview. We encourage you to send your resume with
photo to us when you are ready.
Aspire is looking for applicants who are professionally minded, eager to learn,
and are thinking about their future career objectives. Having a professional
appearance, as if you were already working in the hotel, is the first item we notice.
Having a friendly and polite attitude that can match with our international
hotel clients is also important. We do not require English test scores,
but we do evaluate your English conversation ability during the interview. We are not looking
for people who speak perfectly but we do check to see if you can understand
and maintain a conversation that would be similar to that found in the work environment.
Finally we evaluate your educational and work background to evaluate what level program you can manage.
"The Japanese Expert"
If selected, you will become the "Japanese expert" of your new hotel team.
You will be expected to use all of your talents and knowledge of Japan to improve
the service in your host hotel. Your hotel will be interested you translating for
customers and business documents, increasing business for Japanese travelers
and improving services for Japanese customers.
International Experience
In a international hotel internship program, you will meet many customers from all over the world.
Some of your fellow trainees and hotel
employees will be from France, Germany, Spain, China, and many other countries.
These fellow trainees and employees will be eager to make friends with you and they
will like to know more about Japan. They will be a good source to ask questions
and to enjoy your time with.
The Aspire program will not always be easy. At times it will be very challenging
but you will also have times where you will have fun. You will learn skills and
your language ability will improve more then you could ever achieve in Japan.
Looking toward the future
The hotel industry is changing dramatically in Japan right now. International business
events, traveling foreign business executives, and foreign vacation travelers are
increasing rapidly in Japan. The demand for hotel staff with high English ability
and understanding of Western hospitality customs will continue to increase in future.
Many of our Japanese interns are people with many years of hotel experience who
wish to secure and improve their work positions for the future. By joining an
international hotel training program you will being learning skills that will be very
valuable for your future.
